Sir,
For those, like me, who are addicted to Radio 4 and unable to resist switching on their set at 8.45am on a Sunday, there is the pleasure of the mini-lecture from someone who believes they have something to say.
But I have a problem. How can I tell the difference between the current deliverer of the homily, Sarah Dunant, and the regular presence of Professor Lisa Jardine?
I pride myself on being able to distinguish one voice from another but, in this case, I am losing my touch. Are Miss Dunant and Prof Jardine interchangeable, or is there some telling difference that I could look out for?
Is there a particular voice preferred by the BBC, reminiscent of the terrible phrase, "a woman of a particular age and university"?
