David has written an article in today's Daily Mail about the most famous member of his staff - Sadie, his faithful guide dog.
"You, dear readers, will be the first to know that a very close friend of mine — a very, very close friend — is soon to retire," the former Work and Pensions Secretary writes.
"Sadie has been a remarkable guide dog. She has been through thick and thin with me, in government and outside."

Hello David
I live in Perth Australia and viewed an interview with you tonite on ABC1 with a very famous psychologist and former entertainer Pamela. I want to thank you for your frank yet reserved dialogue. As a person who has always managed, not always by intention,to have a reasonably high profile in my work life - although not as high as yours, it never ceases to amaze me that there are people who cannot accept others for the good they can contribute, especially when they have a particular level of insight. I found it refeshing and inspiring to hear your reflections on the relentless pursuit of some to bring down those who have managed to maintain their integrity, honesty, as as you described it a level of naivety; however refreshing that might be - to the level of mundane bitchery. It takes a lot of strength to as you said, to choose not to be bitter and hold resentments. However, the world needs such peopleas you to remind us that there is more to life than greed and self-gratification at the expense of others. I want to thank you for being prepared to share your honest soul on TV and take it as encouragement - I and others like us are not alone. What a glorious life friend you have in your lovely dog. Its a pleasure to know that such as yourself is in an important goverment position. Best regards, Francie fron Australia a professional in the family law system.
